Fire Safety is one of the main considerations in the building mandates for building professionals who are involved in the development, design and construction of the buildings. In buildings, the fire protection entails a series of measures that lead to the provisions of escapes, to either prevent or mitigate an outbreak of fire.

In a typical fire scenario, when a fire starts in a building, occupants fail to extinguish the fire and automated fire sprinkles fail to control or extinguish the fire and fire continues to grow until fire fighters intervene to control and extinguish it. It is at such circumstances that installations have to uphold its integrity for the safe evacuation of the occupants until the fire fighters arrive.

This has instilled on us, as a ventilation ducting specialist, a civil and social responsibility to enhance our installation structure with fire ratings so that evacuation route remains excisable for the occupants and hopefully will assist the fire fighters when they arrive.

Inspired by this, the senior management took the liberty to understudy the possible means to fire protect the ventilation ducting systems. Within a short span of 30 months, backed by 25 years of experience with the undertaking of many projects and ventilation duct installation works, the search for a reliable OEM manufacturer to produce the required high quality of a fire rated calcium silicate board, Ingeborg® has surfaced. The team then engaged into system design and construction, and have it tested to the required approved standards. This lead to the inception of Lafire Asia in June 2011.

Lafire has acquired the Certificate of Conformity from an internationally recognized independent accredited testing and certificate body, TUV SUD PSB, for the ventilation duct fire protection system using Ingeborg®
